Celine

is a 40 foot cat with a spacious deck and saloon built in South Africa by her Captain Neil Roebert. He sailed her over to St Maarten in November 1996 and has been chartering in St Maarten since then. She goes out for daily cruises and conducts a glorious sunset cruise around the lagoon several nights per week. On Wednesdays she goes out for a pub crawl, visiting three popular bars in Simpson Bay to sample their food and drink and affording seldom seen views from the water. If Wednesday fills up, we add extra nights as required.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PUB CRAWL

We meet at SkipJacks' across from Royal Palm near the Dutch Bridge at 6:30 pm. We board Celine at 7:00 pm head out to Peg Leg Pub for cubes of filet mignon and sword fish with garlic bread. We then head to JO's Steakhouse for a California roll with seaweed salad, pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. It's followed with a Bourride de Saint Tropez - a traditional French soup. It is made with several different types of fish, sea scallops, shrimps, and mussels. There is a special way to eat the soup: Baguettes are sliced thin and toasted, a special very light mustard, grated cheese and fresh garlic accompany the soup. Take the toasted baguette rub it with the garlic, spread the mustard and sprinkle the grated cheese, and dip this into the soup to experince a new dining experience. We return to SkipJacks' for crab backs or spare ribs or buffalo wings. The order changes at times but we spend a bit over an hour in each restaurant with travel times included, getting back to SkipJacks' at about 10:30 PM. SkipJacks' was voted the best new restaurant on the island in 2006.

WHAT MAKES THIS SPECIAL?

The people on board and the people we visit make this a special evening. There is nothing like getting on and off a boat several times to to bring different people together all night long. You'll make new friends at each stop. Peg Leg Pub has been packing them in for years and their new location at Port de PLaisance is even better. The fish soup at JO's is worth the price of admission all by itself. SkipJack's is home of the freshest fish on the island and was voted the best place for seafood by the reader's of the Daily Herald.

The cost for an evening of fun, food, drinks is $75 per person. You receive a welcome drink of rum punch, beer or soda at each restaurant. We have an open bar on board and spend approximately 45 minutes at each restaurant. We wear sneakers, boat shoes or go barefoot on board. The captain may vary the route depending on the availability of the restaurant. A Sunday cruise will be added if ten people express an interest. Contest code: LPC
